Donald Trump: Congress raid case is a complete scam
Former US President Donald Trump has described the lawsuit filed in the House of Representatives regarding the congress raid on January 6, 2021 as a complete sham.
In his 12-page statement, Trump claimed that the investigation was conducted to divert Americans’ attention from the “disastrous” administration led by the Democrats.
In the hearings held in the committee formed under the leadership of Democrats in the Congress, it was suggested that Donald Trump planned a coup attempt by coordinating the congress raid.
Monday’s hearing also presented detailed evidence of disagreements among Trump’s advisers on whether to accept the losing election results.
Thousands of people gathered in the capital Washington DC on January 6, 2021, at the call of President Donald Trump, who made unfounded and untrue claims that irregularities were involved in the elections.
“We will never give up, we will never admit defeat,” Trump told his supporters in front of the White House. Then the crowd raided the Congress building.
In his written statement, Trump said, “17 months after the January 6 events, the Democrats are still far from producing a solution,” reminding the anti-racist demonstrations in 2020, he continued his words as follows:
“They are trying to divert the agenda from the nation’s progress towards failure, without ever mentioning how the radical left caused mayhem and death a few months ago.
“Undoubtedly, they are in charge of this government. This disaster is their work. They hope that they can cover up their failures through these hearings.”
Repeating his baseless allegations that the elections were rigged in an important part of his statement, Trump also accused the committee that conducted the investigation on the January 6 events of treason.
The committee in the US Congress was formed under the leadership of Democrats after the Republican Party blocked efforts to open a fully independent investigation.
Chaired by Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson, the delegation consists of seven Democrats and two Republicans.
Two Republican members of the committee, Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, are staunch anti-Donald Trump.
The committee aims to provide a comprehensive overview not only of the raid on January 6, 2021, but also of the initiative aimed at canceling the 2020 election results.
After the hearings, the members are expected to prepare a report and announce their conclusions to the public with a new hearing in September.
In the US Congress raid, four people were killed and more than 100 police officers were injured. All four police officers committed suicide after the incident.
