What are the signs of Apiphobia ?
Apiphobia is also known as Melissophobia. When hornets, normal bees or wasps appear, it acts as a stimulus to the person and the person with the phobia begins to show panic symptoms.
The person with this phobia feels discomfort and anxiety in addition to the fear he experiences. Therefore, the most common physiological symptoms are dizziness and loss of control. Increased heart rate, hyperventilation (the process by which carbon dioxide escapes from the lungs as a result of deliberate deep breathing) or difficulty in breathing, nausea, tremors, headache may be observed.
Similarly, the cognitive symptoms caused by this phobia can even affect a person’s mental functioning. A person with apiphobia may have distorted thoughts and feelings, such as a lack of concentration, anxiety about the possibility of more bees, and fear of death.
