What are the reasons for Hypocondria ?
There are various theories about the development of hypochondria, but the causes have not been determined so far.
First of all, overestimating the likelihood and severity of the disease and overestimating the symptoms of the disease is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of this disorder. Excessive examination of somatic symptoms and their misinterpretation is a very important step as it leads the person to the most severe stages of the hypochondria disorder.
Hypochondria is also defined as a desire for attention and help. People with this condition have often experienced and witnessed that people receive more attention and help from others when they are sick.
Especially in terms of deep psychological (dynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy), such experiences gained in childhood are thought to be the triggers of hypochondria.
In general, hypochondria can also be interpreted as a self-improvement strategy to cope with other problems.
