What does Oedipus Complex mean ?
The emotion and libidic desire the boy feels towards his parent (mother) of the opposite sex is called the Oedipus Complex. It includes actions such as seeing the father as a rival, being jealous, trying to overcome, protecting the mother from the father. It is quite possible that the male child sees the mother as the first opposite sex. The sexual organs or sexual differences orientation of the child, which we call the phallic period, starts to sit between the ages of 3-6, and the male child’s proximity to the mother increases. This condition usually normalizes with age. Sometimes there are situations where it is difficult to push. Falling in love with the mother is the case in more exacerbated cases as the age gets older. The opposite of this is the situation, that is, does the girl have a libidic desire for her father? Of course there is. This is called the Electra Complex. Again, the same shape we see in the Oedipus Complex is seen in the girl’s feelings towards her father. And again appears in the phallic period.
