What is Paleo diet ? What are the benefits of Paleolithic diet ?
The Paleo diet is designed similar to what its human hunter-gatherer ancestors ate thousands of years ago.
While it’s impossible to know exactly what human ancestors ate in different parts of the world, researchers believe their diets consisted of whole foods.
By following a whole food-based diet and living physically active lives, hunter-gatherers are estimated to have much lower rates of lifestyle illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
In fact, several studies suggest that this diet can lead to significant weight loss (without counting calories) and significant improvements in health.
The Paleo diet, or Paleolithic diet, also known as the Stone Age diet, was first addressed in 1975 by gastroenterologist Walter Voegtlin. In his book The Stone Age Diet, the doctor explains the diet of the stone age people and defends that this diet program is healthy.
Paleo diet book “The Paleo Diet: Lose Weight and Get Healthy by Eating the Foods You Were Designed to Eat” written by Loren Cordain in 2010 provides the popularity of the paleolithic diet. In our country, diet became popular with the book “The First Human Diet: Healthy Eating Secrets from the Stone Age” published in Turkish in 2011 and written by Arthur De Vany.
According to the logic of the Paleo diet, the reason for the chronic diseases experienced today is explained as the incompatibility of the modern lifestyle with human genetics. The Paleo diet, which is claimed to reduce the risk of both healthy weight loss and chronic diseases when the eating behaviors of our ancestors living in the Stone Age, which are not suitable for the nutrition program, are criticized by many dieticians and doctors.
